WAV-R Social — Terms of Use

1. Eligibility

• You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital age in your country) to use WAVR Social.
• By using the platform you confirm you meet this requirement.
• Users in the European Economic Area (EEA) must be at least 16 unless parental consent is provided.

2. Account Responsibilities

• You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
• You must provide accurate information and keep your login credentials secure.
• You must not share your account or allow others to use it.
• You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations in your region.

3. User Content

• You retain full ownership of audio, visuals, descriptions, and other content you upload.
• By uploading music to WAV-R Social, you grant WAV-R Social a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide right to showcase, host, store, stream, perform, promote, and feature your uploaded content on WAV-R Social, on official WAVR Social streams and broadcasts (including third-party platforms such as Twitch, YouTube, Discord, and similar live-streaming or video services), at community events, in playlists and curated showcases, on WAV-R Social social media accounts, and in promotional or marketing content. This permission exists so your music can be played, streamed, and promoted as part of normal platform and community activity. You retain ownership of your work, and this license ends for new uses when you remove the content from WAVR Social.
• You confirm you hold all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions for everything you upload — including music, samples, cover art, and any third-party material — and that the above streaming and promotional use will not infringe any third-party rights.
• Uploading copyrighted content you do not have rights to is strictly prohibited and may result in removal and account suspension.
• Release types (Single, EP, Album) are used for display and organisation purposes only and do not constitute a formal commercial release.

4. Prohibited Conduct

• No copyright infringement, piracy, or unauthorized distribution of others’ content.
• No abusive, harassing, threatening, hateful, or discriminatory content or behaviour.
• No spam, fake accounts, impersonation, or misleading profiles.
• No attempts to bypass access controls, paywalls, or platform security.
• No automation, scraping, or bots without prior written permission.
• No uploading of malware, harmful code, or deceptive files.
• No use of the artist tip or payment system to conduct fraud, money laundering, or abuse chargebacks.

4b. Blocking and Reporting

You may block another user at any time; blocking hides that user’s posts and tracks from your feeds. You may not block a WAV-R Social administrator account — this restriction exists to preserve platform safety and support access and cannot be disabled. You may report a user, track, comment, or message that violates these Terms. Reports are reviewed by WAV-R Social administrators, who may take any action described in Section 8, including no action, at their sole discretion. Submitting knowingly false or malicious reports is itself a violation of these Terms and may result in account suspension.

5. Artist Tips

WAVR Social facilitates voluntary fan-to-artist tips via PayPal. Tips are not refundable once processed. WAV-R Social retains a platform fee (displayed before checkout): 10% for Pro artists, 25% for free artists. The artist receives the remaining share after PayPal transaction fees. WAV-R Social is not responsible for PayPal downtime, disputes, or failed transfers.

5b. Artist Badges

Artists may offer purchasable digital badges to fans as a form of support. Badge purchases are processed through PayPal and are non-refundable once granted. The artist receives a share of each badge sale after the platform fee. Badges are digital entitlements with no monetary value and are not transferable.

5c. WAV-R Social Game — Track Opt-In

Artists may optionally enable their tracks for use in the WAV-R Social Game by toggling “Add to WAV-R Social Game” on the upload page or in their track settings. By enabling this, you grant WAV-R Social a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to stream your audio within the game, generate note chart data from your track, and display your track metadata (title, artist name, cover art) to players. You may revoke this permission at any time by disabling the toggle on your track. Opt-in is entirely voluntary and does not affect your track’s visibility elsewhere on the platform.

6. Pro Subscription, Supporter, Game Pass, and Paid Features

WAV-R Social offers optional paid tiers (Pro, Supporter, Game Pass) and paid playlist access processed through PayPal or approved crypto payment methods. Subscriptions renew periodically until cancelled. Access codes and redeem codes may have expiration dates and eligibility limits. We reserve the right to revoke access obtained through fraud, chargeback abuse, or policy violation. All prices include applicable VAT where required by Norwegian law.

Supporter (pay-what-you-want): the Supporter tier lets you choose your own contribution amount (in NOK, subject to a minimum) and choose either a one-time payment or a recurring monthly subscription. A one-time Supporter contribution grants Supporter status and badge for a limited period (approximately one month); a recurring subscription renews automatically each month until cancelled. Cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current period.

Currency conversion display: prices are charged in Norwegian Kroner (NOK). Where shown, USD/EUR equivalents are an informational estimate only, calculated from live public exchange rates, and are not a guaranteed or locked-in price. The amount actually charged by PayPal is always the NOK amount shown at checkout.

Right of withdrawal: Under EU/EEA consumer law you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital purchases. By completing a purchase and requesting immediate access to the digital content (subscription, Game Pass, coin pack, or boost), you explicitly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal is waived once the digital content has been made available to you, in accordance with the Norwegian Cancellation Rights Act (angrerettloven) §22(1)(m).

Refunds: All purchases — including Pro, Supporter, Game Pass, coin packs, and track boosts — are non-refundable once delivered, except where required by applicable law. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at team@wavr.app within 14 days.

6a. WAVR Game Coins (Virtual Currency)

WAV-R Social offers a virtual in-app currency (“Coins”) that can be purchased with real money via PayPal. Coins are a limited-use virtual currency redeemable only within the WAV-R Social platform.

• Coins have no monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred outside the platform.
• Coins can be used for: artist tips within the platform, track boost campaigns, and future in-app features.
• Coin balances are tied to your account. They are not transferable to other accounts except through platform tip features.
• Purchased coins are non-refundable once delivered to your account, except where required by law.
• WAV-R Social reserves the right to modify, limit, or discontinue the coin system at any time. Significant changes will be communicated to users in advance where possible.
• Coin purchases are processed by PayPal. WAV-R Social is not a licensed payment institution or e-money issuer.

6b. Coin Tips (Fan-to-Artist)

Users may send Coins to artists as voluntary tips after gameplay or through the platform. Coin tips are voluntary and non-refundable once sent. Artists receive the coin equivalent after any applicable platform conversion. WAVR Social facilitates the transfer of coins between users within the platform; this is not a regulated payment service but a feature of the platform’s internal reward system. Coin tips do not represent any guarantee of service, content, or relationship from the artist.

6c. Track Boost (Paid Promotion)

Artists with Pro or Game Pass may spend Coins to boost their tracks on the Discover feed or in the WAVR Game queue. Boosted tracks are visibly marked as “Boosted” or “Spotlight” to users in accordance with EU consumer transparency requirements. Boosts run for a fixed duration (6, 12, or 24 hours). Boost duration begins immediately upon purchase and is non-refundable. WAVR Social does not guarantee any specific level of exposure, plays, or engagement from a boost.

6e. WAVR Studio & AI Mastering Tools

WAVR Social includes AI-powered music production tools: the Mastering Studio (available in the Upload page) and WAVR Studio (an AI-assisted audio editing workspace). By using these tools you agree to the following:

• AI Mastering processes your audio locally in your browser and does not transmit your audio to external servers. The mastered result is stored in Firebase Storage under your account.
• The Remix Bot (full genre transformation) in WAVR Studio uploads your audio temporarily to Google Cloud Storage and processes it on our Cloud Run server. By using the Remix Bot you consent to this temporary upload. Your audio is used solely to generate the remix and is not retained or shared.
• WAVR Studio AI operations (arrangement, BPM detection, clip editing, AI chat commands) run locally in your browser using the Web Audio API. No audio content is transmitted to external servers for these operations except where the Remix Bot is invoked.
• AI actions in WAVR Studio consume credits (coins) or free monthly quota. Free users receive a limited number of AI actions per month; Pro users receive an expanded quota. The coin cost for each action is displayed before the action is executed.
• AI-generated results (remixes, arrangements, exports) are derived from audio you own or have rights to. You remain solely responsible for ensuring you hold all necessary rights before uploading, remixing, or exporting any audio.
• WAVR Social does not claim ownership of or rights to any AI-generated derivative content produced from your uploaded audio.
• AI results are provided “as is” — we do not guarantee any specific quality, accuracy, or style of output.

6g. WAVR Radio

WAVR Radio is a live-streaming radio feature accessible at radio.wavrsocial.no.

• Station subscriptions: hosting a WAVR Radio station requires a monthly subscription (currently 99 NOK/month) processed via PayPal. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. The right-of-withdrawal waiver for immediately-delivered digital access (see Section 6 above) applies to radio subscriptions.
• Station content: by setting a station name, logo, banner, description, and queue, you confirm you hold all necessary rights to the content you upload and stream, including music tracks sourced from WAVR Social. Streaming copyrighted content you do not have rights to is prohibited.
• Song requests: listeners may submit song requests to your station. As a host, you may approve or reject requests at your discretion. You are responsible for ensuring that any tracks you play comply with applicable copyright and licensing requirements.
• Official Host Programme: applying for Official Host status is voluntary. Approved hosts receive a verification badge and featured placement. WAV-R Social may revoke Official Host status if these Terms or radio-specific guidelines are violated.
• Ad credits: hosts may purchase ad-trigger credits via PayPal to run audio ad breaks. Ad credit purchases are non-refundable once delivered.
• Live Mic: hosts may broadcast their microphone live to listeners. You are responsible for everything you say while broadcasting, and the same prohibited conduct rules (Section 4) apply.
• Remote Mic Guests: hosts may invite another person to join their Live Mic broadcast remotely via a shareable link. Hosts are responsible for the conduct of any guest they invite onto their station's live mic, and may remove a guest at any time. Guests are bound by the same prohibited conduct rules (Section 4) while connected.
• Radio chat: if a host enables live chat on their station, the same prohibited conduct rules (Section 4) apply to chat messages. Hosts may disable chat at any time, which permanently deletes that station's chat history.
• Listener conduct: listeners using WAVR Radio are bound by the same prohibited conduct rules (Section 4) as WAVR Social users.

6f. Live Party Queue

WAV-R Social may host “Live Party” events where artists can submit tracks to a shared public queue for a listening session. Submissions are voluntary. By submitting a track to the Live Party Queue, you confirm you own or have the necessary rights to that track and consent to it being publicly streamed within the platform during the event. The queue is managed by WAV-R Social administrators, who may open, close, reset, or remove tracks at any time without prior notice. Submission slots are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. WAVR Social does not guarantee inclusion in any event.

6h. Visualizer & Video Recording

WAV-R Social includes a full-screen music visualizer with an optional video recording feature that allows you to capture visualizer animations as a video file (“Visualizer Recording”).

• Local processing: Visualizer Recordings are created entirely in your browser. The visualizer canvas is captured using your device’s local encoding capabilities. No video data is transmitted to or stored on WAV-R Social’s servers.
• Your responsibility: You may only record visualizations of music you own or have rights to distribute or share. By using the recording feature, you confirm that you hold all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions for the underlying audio. WAV-R Social is not responsible for any copyright infringement arising from your use of the recording feature.
• Output format: Recorded files are downloaded directly to your device as a .webm video file. WAV-R Social does not store, view, or process your recordings.
• Platform use: You may share recordings you create on other platforms (social media, YouTube, etc.) subject to the rights you hold to the underlying music. WAV-R Social does not claim any ownership of recordings you create using this feature.
• Feature availability: The recording feature may be subject to access controls and is provided “as is”. Quality and compatibility may vary by browser and device.

7. Referral Programme

The referral programme is subject to eligibility limits and anti-abuse controls. Rewards may be revoked if referrals are found to be fraudulent, self-referred, or otherwise in bad faith.

7b. Direct Messages

WAV-R Social provides 1:1 Direct Messages between users. The same prohibited conduct rules in Section 4 apply to Direct Messages, including no harassment, threats, hate speech, spam, or unsolicited commercial messages.

• Messages are private between the two participants of a conversation and are not publicly visible.
• WAV-R Social administrators may access message content where necessary to investigate harassment, abuse, safety reports, or as required by law — see our Privacy Policy for details.
• You may report a conversation or user for violating these Terms; we may review message content in connection with that report.
• Accounts used to send harassing, abusive, or spam messages may be suspended or terminated without prior notice.
• Deleting a conversation removes it from your own view only; it does not delete it for the other participant or from our records.

7c. Contests

WAV-R Social and approved Contest Hosts may run community contests (e.g. tag-based submission challenges).

• By submitting a track to a contest, you confirm you own or hold the necessary rights to that track and consent to it being publicly displayed and voted on as part of the contest.
• Contest Hosts and co-hosts may create, edit, and close contests, and moderate submissions to their own contests. Contest Hosts do not receive moderator or verification powers.
• Voting is limited to one vote per user per contest unless stated otherwise. Attempting to manipulate votes (e.g. fake accounts, vote buying) is prohibited and may result in disqualification and account suspension.
• Prizes, rewards, or recognition described for a contest are at WAV-R Social’s or the host’s discretion and are not guaranteed.
• WAV-R Social may remove any contest, submission, or vote at its discretion, including for rule violations or technical issues.

7d. Verification Badge

Users may apply for a verification badge via the Support Center or profile tools. Applications are reviewed by WAV-R Social administrators or moderators, who may approve or deny a request at their discretion. Verification status does not guarantee any specific treatment, promotion, or feature access, and may be revoked if the account is later found to violate these Terms.

7e. Push Notifications

You may opt in to browser/device push notifications (e.g. new music from artists you follow, likes, comments). Enabling this feature stores a notification token tied to your device/browser via Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can disable push notifications at any time in Settings or your browser/device settings.

7f. Sidebar Ads

WAV-R Social may display promotional or sponsored content curated by WAVR HQ in the desktop sidebar. Sidebar ads are not personalized based on your activity and do not constitute an endorsement by WAV-R Social of any linked third-party site or offer. WAV-R Social is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any third-party site linked from a sidebar ad.

8. Moderation and Enforcement

WAV-R Social may remove content, limit features, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts that violate these Terms, applicable law, or safety requirements, at our sole discretion and without prior notice where necessary to protect users or comply with legal obligations.

8b. Discord Community Bot

WAV-R Social operates an automated bot in the official WAV-R Social Discord server. By participating in bot-driven community activities (quests, battles, reputation challenges, song-share channels), you agree to the following:

• The bot may store your Discord user ID, display name, reputation score, and interaction history in WAV-R Social’s database (Google Firestore) to operate community features. This includes daily check-in streak data (discordStreaks) and collab request records (discordCollab).
• Reputation points (RP) earned through the bot have no monetary value and are non-transferable outside the platform.
• The bot moderates specific channels (e.g. the WAV-R Song Sharing channel). Messages containing links that violate channel rules may be deleted automatically. The bot will notify you of the correct channel.
• Attempting to exploit, spam, or abuse the bot’s quest, referral, or reputation systems is prohibited and may result in a ban from community features or the Discord server.
• WAV-R Social may modify, suspend, or discontinue any Discord bot feature at any time without notice.
• Discord’s own Terms of Service apply to your use of the Discord platform: discord.com/terms.

8c. Achievement System

WAV-R Social includes a cross-platform achievement system that tracks activity across the main site, WAV-R Radio, and the official Discord server.

• Achievements are unlocked automatically based on tracked activity (tracks played, uploads, events joined, radio sessions, Discord check-ins, and quests completed). No additional action is required beyond normal platform use.
• Discord achievements (check-in streaks, quest milestones, Discord-specific badges) are only tracked when your Discord account is linked to your WAV-R Social account via the /link command in the Discord server. Unlinked Discord activity is not attributed to your WAV-R profile.
• Achievement rewards (coins, titles) are granted automatically upon unlock and are non-transferable.
• Achievement progress data is stored in your account’s Firestore record. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is stored.
• WAV-R Social reserves the right to modify, add, or remove achievements, thresholds, and rewards at any time. Previously unlocked achievements will not be revoked.
• Achievement progress may not be retroactively calculated for activity that occurred before the system was introduced.

8d. Exclusive Badges, Frames & Titles

WAV-R Social offers cosmetic profile items — avatar frames and profile titles — earned through achievements or granted directly by WAVR HQ/administrators (e.g. Founder, Team Member, contest prizes). The following applies:

• Exclusive frames and titles cannot be purchased with real money or Coins. They are either unlocked by completing achievements or granted manually by an administrator.
• You may equip at most one frame and one title at a time from those you own; equipping is free and can be changed at any time.
• Exclusive items have no monetary value, cannot be sold, traded, gifted, or transferred between accounts, and are not redeemable for cash, Coins, or other items.
• The Founder and Team Member badges are permanent, admin-granted designations, separate from the automatic early-joiner ranking described below. WAV-R Social may revoke a Founder/Team Member badge or any exclusive item at its discretion, including in cases of abuse or account violations.
• Early-joiner ranking (Founding Member, Early Adopter, Pioneer) is calculated automatically based on account join order and is used only to determine a permanent Pro-subscription discount tier and a profile badge. This ranking is not a purchasable item and may be recalculated if account data (such as join date) is corrected.

8e. Support Center

WAV-R Social operates a public Support Center at wavrsocial.no/support.html. By submitting a support ticket, you provide your name, email address, and a description of your issue. This information is stored in our database and reviewed by WAV-R Social administrators solely to resolve your request. Support ticket data is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Do not include passwords, payment credentials, or other sensitive information in support tickets.

9. Third-Party Services

WAVR Social uses third-party providers including Google Firebase (hosting, database, authentication, storage) and PayPal (payment processing). Their availability, policies, and terms apply independently. Downtime or policy changes by third parties may affect platform availability.

10. Intellectual Property

All platform design, branding, code, and non-user-generated content is the property of WAVR Social or its licensors. You may not copy, redistribute, or use platform assets outside the app without permission.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

WAVR Social is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including uninterrupted access, error-free operation, or fitness for a particular purpose.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law (including Norwegian law), WAVR Social and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive losses arising from your use of the platform, including loss of content, loss of earnings, or service interruption.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of Norwegian courts, without prejudice to your statutory consumer rights in your country of residence.

14. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. The updated date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Continued use after updates means you accept the revised Terms. For significant changes, we will attempt to notify users via the platform.
